Before lighting, ensure the candle is placed on a heat-resistant surface away from drafts, flammable materials, and out of reach of pets and children. Trim the wicks to about 1/4 inch before each use to prevent excessive smoking and ensure an even burn. When lighting the candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the wax pool reaches the edges of the container to prevent tunneling and ensure an even melt.
